Most important minimalist (not really) / experimental / noise album since the Disintegration Loops. But if you're reading this you probably already know that.

After few years, I feel this is one of the most amazing Lopatin albums. Textures painted with mix of samples/tape loops with his Juno take me inside his music, you feel this album. You feel this distinct Juno 60 sound.

Score: 9.1/10 A very experimental and glitchy piece of ambient influenced music. This album is rich in texture and very thought provoking. From just looking at the album cover you can feel pain, and self-hate. The music only further takes you into these feelings, expanding on them even without the use of lyrics. This is a very hard trick to pull, and this album did it superblyScore: 9.1/10 A very experimental and glitchy piece of ambient influenced music. This album is rich in texture and very thought provoking. From just looking at the album cover you can feel pain, and self-hate. The music only further takes you into these feelings, expanding on them even without the use of lyrics. This is a very hard trick to pull, and this album did it superbly through most of its length. Each track gives you glimpses of feelings, jumping in and out sometimes and dragging out in other cases. It all sums up to an end where a man can no longer see himself. This album is very reminiscent of DJ Shadow's 'Endrtoducing' in sound, but features very little in the way of Hip-hop influence. All in all I would sum this up as an incredibly strong piece of experimental work. Not all the experimentations were a success, at times in this album they can be slightly irritating, but the sense of atmosphere is truly tragic and that alone makes this album worth owning. Expand

At first, a harsh, slashing cascade of looping sound seeming to bubble up from a sea of warm synth tones. No album without words will ever give you the same chilling feel that Replica achieves. Piano and glitchy fragments collide like nothing ever before, and probably anything we will ever see. No album without words will ever give you the same chilling feel that Replica achieves. Piano and glitchy fragments collide like nothing ever before, and probably anything we will ever see. It's like wiring your brain into a broken circuit board, with audible arcs of electricity zapping throughout. If you haven't yet, give Replica a listen. Then listen to it again, and again. If it doesn't grow on you, take a walk through the woods with the title track, listen to Child Soldier with your favorite audio visualizer, and close your eyes and imagine the lush soundscape of Andro. This is a dense, beautiful testament to it's genre, and music itself. Expand

  1. Chugging, grinding, crackling, swelling, bubbling, babbling, these tracks don't sound like part of the natural world, but they do sound cognizant of the natural world.

Take off your thinking cap, and Replica reveals mostly pleasant, mellow ambient jams.

Simultaneously beautiful and unsettling, it moves from stuttering rhythms of ghost vocals and music loops to immersive multi-layered waves of digital polyphony. [Dec. 2011 p. 99]
