It really does grow on you, the lyrics are still beautiful, and although Dilate will always be my favorite cd, Revelling/Reckoning comes in 2nd place. Especially Revelling....it really is fantastic, but what else can you expect from an artist who pours herself into her music so much?!

While it doesn't live up to 1997's. "Living In Clip", her best work, This is introspective, political, honest and everything a folk/rock record should be. First-time Ani buyers: She doesn't write like any other artist I know of, there are few if any repeating choruses or hooks, this is music that you sit on the edge of your bed, close your eyes and just listen to the words.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN? Another depressed girl with a guitar? Try a self made folk legend with a guitar, set of drums and bass not to mention killer elastic vocal chords. This album is full of wonderful surprises. The lyrics alone are brilliant never mind the beatiful way she combines the music. I think this album is wonderful and if you give it the attention it commands you will find a wealth of insight and surprises which is just what Ani fans were waiting for. Expand

Bombarding (occasionally annoying, "Subdivision" being the very low point) political assertments aside, this is Ani at her best. It is almost impossible to categorize this work; it breaks through so many genres. A welcoming and intriguing listen for anyone who can get past the occassional political ranting sure to piss you off a little.

Incorporating a variety of musical styles and utilizing her talented ensemble of musicians, Ani rides one of her great musical peaks while retaining her crown as our best modern poet. This album was one of the best of the decade.

Most definitely in my top 5 favorite albums by Ms. DiFranco. Not necessarily an album that you would loan to someone that you wanted to start liking Ani's music, but definitely an album full of emotional themes!
