    I love the Furs, always heve, and I love Love Spit Love. I even saw the Furs here in Austin during this past year: it was like an Eighties Love-Fest Night! I was wondering if there was gonna be a turnout, but to my surprise the place was packed, everyone (almost) was was dressed in black, and Love was in the air as those guys played as well as I've ever seen them do. It was an I love the Furs, always heve, and I love Love Spit Love. I even saw the Furs here in Austin during this past year: it was like an Eighties Love-Fest Night! I was wondering if there was gonna be a turnout, but to my surprise the place was packed, everyone (almost) was was dressed in black, and Love was in the air as those guys played as well as I've ever seen them do. It was an ecstatic night for band and audience alike. So, needless to say, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this record. I honestly believe it's impossible for Richard Butler to sing anything but great songs with great lyrics and arrangements, so... Well, at first I was thinking Hmm, this is interesting, at least. Then as I listened more, and read the lyrics, I realized that this is a supremely beautiful bunch of songs, flawlessly sung, musically audacious, almost perfect! It's impossible for Richard not to have a kind of melancholy edge on his stuff, no matter how fast or slow the songs are (most of these are slow). While not apparent at first, a few listenings of this record will reel you in to just how gorgeous the lyrics and melodies and music are. I suppose Morrissey will sell more records, but for me, Richard Butler is the very soul of the Eighties, and I love this record. What's more, he's just as great now as he's been for the last 25 years, and probably better! Anyone who puts this record down hasn't really given it a proper listen.… Collapse

    Another profound and thoughtful piece of Richard Butler has been bestowed upon us ... thank you Richard for sharing your innermost self. Few performers show so much of what they have inside. Very different album for Richard, and so personal. Don't expect the normal sound; be open and listen a few times first. You'll fall in love.

    This is a departure for Richard Butler musically, as it tends to very soft and slow. It works for about 70% of the album, but a few of the tracks are just boring and muddle along.
