  • Summary: This is the debut release for the new project from Macha's Josh McKay. Unlike his work with Macha, McKay here avoids Eastern influences to concentrate on moody, atmospheric works.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 6 out of 6
  2. Mixed: 0 out of 6
  3. Negative: 0 out of 6
  1. It's the first good 2002 album I've heard.
  2. Fans of Macha might find the release lacking a bit in the percussion area, but The Ride makes up for it some with atmosphere.
  3. Alternative Press

What emerges here isn't the new techno folk or even world music for the e-universe, but a rare portrait of technology with a human face. [Mar 2002, p.78]
  4. The album is gorgeous and richly textured, but it seems as if McKay can't decide whether he wants to focus on groovy, downtempo space-pop or more experimental, melodramatic soundscapes.
  5. Magnet

If Seaworthy is more restrained than Macha, it's just as colorful. [#83, p.89]
  6. The Ride has Macha's dreamy, pulling, mournful feel, yet as the name Seaworthy implies, this is more blurry blue aquatic.
