  1. At the end of the day, Rise of The Lion was the record that Miss May I needed to make in order to continue as a band.02

Ultimately, this is a forceful, headlong album with no ballads or restful interludes among its 10 tracks. [May 2014, p.91]

Rise Of The Lion sees the five-piece mature from angsty teens into a fierce, majestic beast. [10 May 2014, p.53]

Galloping metalcore anthem ‘You Want Me’ shows flashes of brilliance, too, but it’s difficult to escape the nagging feeling that their fourth record is the sound of a great band spreading themselves far too thinly.

A finely-tuned machine of an album. The instrumental game is on point, and while the vocals do leave things to be desired from time to time,A finely-tuned machine of an album. The instrumental game is on point, and while the vocals do leave things to be desired from time to time, it's hard to find much too complain about when it carries a sound this refined. The lyrics carry some emotional themes.

While it's missing some needed aggression in the vocal department to really take it over the top, the band shows real talent. There's something worth checking out for any metal fan. It might not blow everyone away, but there is a level of quality here that is always enjoyable to hear.
