  • Summary: This is the second in a series of compilations showcasing the UK grime scene. Included here are artists such as Kano and Plan B.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 2 out of 7
  2. Negative: 0 out of 7
  1. The Brit accents on the pseudo-triumphalist, vaguely Jeezy-sounding four-cameo opener are grime enough for me--most gripping grime I know, in fact, and pretty damn fine Jeezy-sounding pseudo-triumphalism to boot.
  2. 70
Though lighter on star power than its predecessor, this compilation... still packs weird extraterrestrial punch. [Apr 2006, p.118]
  3. Run the Road Volume Two works as a fun soundtrack to a dimly-lit, vodka and Red Bull drenched basement party. But if you really want to kick the party into gear, the album’s older brother is still the one to podcast.
  4. To be sure, grime is a hybrid genre, but Run the Road 2 often shows how the balance can be weighed too heavily towards American rap idioms.
  5. Fans will find diamonds in the grimy rough, but for casual listeners, it might not be worth the search. [9 Feb 2006, p.66]
  6. "Run the Road 2" does not live up to its crack predecessor, but that observation is neither a surprise nor a slam. [18 Feb 2006]
  7. Mostly, the record displays a jump closer to American hip-hop in both production styles and rhyming, and the urgency that was so palpable on the first installment is gone.
