  • Summary: This is the first album in over 17 years for the native american singer-songwriter.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 5 out of 8
  2. Negative: 0 out of 8
  1. It's a joy to hear, and it's comforting that Sainte-Marie is still writing amazing songs, taking firm social and political stands, performing with spirit, joy, and passion, and pretty much doing what she's always done.
  2. Even if Sainte-Marie tries to cram too much into her joyous return to the limelight, Running for the Drum is proof that a path that began with the powerful "Universal Soldier" back in the early 1960s won't be fading gracefully into the usual sunset of folk retirement.
  3. Running For The Drum has a lot to offer, and is sure to stand out as one of 2009's more rewarding oddities.
  4. 60
She's clearly still diamond sharp, with a larynx to match. [Aug 2009, p.103]
