  • Summary: The debut album for the band that includes System of a Down's Daron Malakian and John Dolmayan.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 6 out of 8
  2. Negative: 0 out of 8
  1. The polemics are occasionally clumsy, but the band's gloriously over-the-top heaviosity still makes this a fine addition to the SOAD canon. [8 Aug 2008, p.68]
  2. Scars on Broadway offers up the tastiest smorgasbord of bite-sized pop-metal delicacies since the last time Cheap Trick recorded a Queens of the Stone Age tribute album.
  3. Malakian and SOAD drummer John Dolmayan have indeed brought something new for their fans to love--and perhaps even for non-fans as well, given the more direct and accessible nature of Scars' music.
  4. It is a cleverly barbed normality.
  5. For those who maintain that vocals are the most superficial element of pop music however, Scars on Broadway will be a surprise treat.
  6. 60
Malakian's Scars On Braodway further explore his love of machine gun guitars, bongs for breakfast, scatological lyrics and permeating sense of paranoia. [Sep 2008, p.108]
  7. Surprisingly radio-friendly System Of A Down spin-off.

I saw SoBs first show here in Europe in cologne and it was great. The audience flipped out and the music was very catchy. When the album came I saw SoBs first show here in Europe in cologne and it was great. The audience flipped out and the music was very catchy. When the album came out here in Germany at the first of august I bought it right away and now I just love it. Malakian just showed his skills as musician again. I can't wait for the next album and if it goes on like this I don't need the old SoaD back. This is clearly a 10 of 10. Expand

Better than Serj solo effort, this is one of the best rock album of the year.

Very solid album. Certainly System of a Down fans will find it familiar, but it's more straightforward hard rock album than you might Very solid album. Certainly System of a Down fans will find it familiar, but it's more straightforward hard rock album than you might expect. It's even better than the Serj Tankian album, which was also surprisingly good. Lot of talent in that band, and their side projects have been more of a treat than a diversion. Expand

Pretty disappointing. I wasn't expecting another SOAD record, but this was a bit too 'alt' rock' for my likings.
