Poor, poor Camp sound. Annoying, just too annoying.

They suck! SS sounds like a bunch of no talent people met, cut some tracks (quickly) and have become the sound du jour. Blech!

This album's only redeeming track is "Mary". Otherwise, flat, uninteresting, lifeless. I really annoys me when tedious groups like Kings Of Leon, The Strokes and now Scissor Sisters get so much critical acclaim whilst other more innovative musicians get pushed aside. I like my music to have lasting interest, thank you.

  1. [An] intensely enjoyable record, which plays like a singles collection.
  2. Scissor Sisters' debut is a brilliant ode to a musical era defined by vapid decadence and disposable dance tracks.

Spread over a whole CD, there is some worryingly featureless stuff. [Apr 2004, p.102]
