An extraordinary debut from a new British-based band who combine a gipsy swagger with tremulous sensitivity and gothic rock drama.

A rare collection of songs that succeeds in both evoking the ethereal and forcing you to reach for the volume button.

Shallow Bed is refreshingly free of archaic, "old timey" references; it feels both relevant and familiar.

Although at times the tunes and excitement commonly associated with a debut album can become lost in painful pursuit of authenticity, this is a surefooted and uncompromising collection.
