It's a nice album, but it doesn't deserve a 10. Besides, I think Supernatural was better.

It doesn't re-hash "Supernatural" but then again it doesn't really expand on creativity.

I love Shaman. I got it for Christmas, and I haven't stopped listening to it since. I admitt, the radio stations probably over featured 'The Game of Love' - Santana feat. Michelle Branch, but it's stilla great song, and the Chad Kroeger song is the best on teh whole CD!!!!!!

Santana proves that yet again, he can't sell an album without relying on the help of current top-sellers...his licks are tired, his playing is B-O-R-I-N-G....he should have packed it in after "Abraxas" and his legend would be intact.

The new album is great, Carlos can still rock the house. He proves all the critics who said he cant, wrong, in songs like America, and One of these days. He is a guitar legend and the album is his best yet.

I think this album is one point short of Supernatural. The production is fantastic, the performers as well as Santana show true feeling both on the guitar and vocal and the overall album as a magical feeling to it.

TERRIBLE! No emotion, no soul, just ignorant mass influenced produced junk noise and they call this "music"? I'm deaf to these horrible sounds.

It is yet again the same old tired licks ripped off old latin guitar players AND he has to have the help of all the top-sellers to write his songs

It's simply one of the best CDs I've ever heard. It's for all tastes from love songs to the dance floor! Congratulations on this album! I hope we will be lucky to have such a better release album by santana next time!

This is probably the best album of all time. For those who said "this cd sucks"or"horrible, a waste of money" obviously have no taste of music. Gil A, Josephine Hdz, and Kelso K have no idea of what music really is. Grand album I say!!!!

As a long time Santana fan, I thought this album was much better than Supernatural. Ok, the commercial formula is still there, but this time Santana seems to play with more conviction and fire than before. Also the standout instrumental, track 7 Victory Is Won is lovely, harking back to the classic Sanatana instrumentals of yore. On the same track, you will hear Santana's new guitar trick, which seems to be a combination of whammy pedal, whammy bar and harmonics put to good musical effect. Quite a suprise to see the old master expanding his guitar vocab which hasn't changed for the last 30 years! All in all, a pretty good album and enjoyable to listen to. Expand

Santana has died. It's official. He can't even write his own songs anymore. It's over. There's no good songs on this entire album!!! He needs to get something good going other wise, he's done. The original records by Santana were beautiful. But those days are long long long long gone.

  1. With Shaman, Santana delivers an album that will, no doubt, please fans of its globally successful predecessor, while at the same time reel in new ones.
  2. On Shaman, too many visitors sound as if they're climbing on a gravy train, handing over standard-issue love songs for Santana overdubs. It makes you wonder whether Santana ever met some of his collaborators.
  3. While 'Shaman' is less than the sum of its parts and strays into AOR territory too much to ever truly be cutting edge, despite its R&B and Latin infusions, it will, at least in America, sell by the truckload.
