  1. The sound's still high quality on "Shock Value II," it's just not 100% his own any more - maybe 50%, maybe 75%, all depending on what the co-credits really mean.

So far, so predicatable--at least until "Tomorrow In The Bottle," which features Chad Kroeger of Nickelback. That guy's got a funky bone? Talk about a shocker. [11 Dec 2009, p.115]
  3. Nothing quite fits, giving the impression that this material wasn't good enough for the guest artists' own albums.
  4. Many of the same vices that plagued the first installment of "Shock Value" keep the second edition sodden as well: Tim's precise, micromanaged beats usually outshine his random collection of vocal collaborators.
  5. Shock Value II packs plenty of heat from the layered beats, but never lets Timbaland shine as the artist he wants to become.
  6. The whole thing sounds like it was made fairly quickly, as if Tim came up with a clever idea and proceeded to fill out the track with whatever came to mind first, rather than truly enhance it.
  7. Justin Timberlake and Drake both offer admirable turns, but are forced to operate with unenviably tepid production. The overall laziness of that facet is even more inexcusable coming from one of the most renowned producers of the last decade.

Peoeple are too quick to air their negitive remarks on Timbo just because he's generally flawless. Lets remember he has produced some Peoeple are too quick to air their negitive remarks on Timbo just because he's generally flawless. Lets remember he has produced some amazing albums for Nelly, Justin, Missy, Shock Value. But Shock Value can only be used once I agree, 2nd time is never a shock when you stick to the same formula and a less impressive line up. We have to remember Timbo's solo stuff is mainstream now so we have to except mainstream music, and thats not a bad thing a lot of the time, untill now prehaps. This album in a nut shell is far less impressive than the previous but I didnt accept anything else when I seen he was working on so many projects. There is only so much magic one guy can produce and Timbo's fall down here is that he has his hands in too many pots and stretching the magic till it turns to bland predicatable lifeless beats. All in all I do enjoy many songs on the album but while I agree its not as good I also take on board that he's in heavy demand and therefore he isnt giving his own stuff his all. Highlights are: Lose Control (Jojo), Morning After Dark (Soshy & Nelly) If we ever meet again (Kate Perry) Sat Something (Drake) Carry out (JT) Timoty where you been (Jet) 6 Decents songs isnt too bad I guess 5/10 for me! After the first shock value the bar had been set, and this album missed it by a hair (if that hair were chad kroegers). almost every song is a bore to listen to and timbaland seems to have no fresh ideas so he just stretches the beat out at the end of every song. sorry timbo, not every beat you write needs to be broken down into every single part in EVERY SINGLE song. its just sad how the mighty have fallen Expand
