Silent Alarm doesn't just maintain Bloc Party's post-dance-punk appeal, it blows the fucking lid off. [Apr 2005, p.100]
  2. There are thirteen tracks here spread over 50 minutes, but not once does the quality or pace dip below thrilling. Every track is bursting with ideas and inspired moments.

  1. One of the most catchy and musically beautiful albums I've heard. Every track had me jamming to it and every listen made me want to listen again. There is nothing to hate about this album. Expand

This album is overhyped and overrated. We have a collection of some sophisticated, catchy, dancey, post-punk music. And that's it. Nothing groundbreaking, none of that "re-invention" of rock and roll, just another album put out by hipsters who are trying to milk what today's adolescents are into for all it's worth. Plainly put, they're average. The music isn't bad. It's not amazing, but it's easy to see as to why critics are drewling over this album and why any wannabe indie teen in the states loves this band.
