The thrust of this album may be entirely democratic (that being the dual nature of the artists at hand) but surprisingly (or perhaps not so indeed) the results are not, in fact, if anything, they could be used as oligarchial. Take that as you will, if you need to, for in fact an album of this magnitude cannot be entirely neglected, if it can be neglected at all. It is with this in mind The thrust of this album may be entirely democratic (that being the dual nature of the artists at hand) but surprisingly (or perhaps not so indeed) the results are not, in fact, if anything, they could be used as oligarchial. Take that as you will, if you need to, for in fact an album of this magnitude cannot be entirely neglected, if it can be neglected at all. It is with this in mind that we must now examine the album, not merely (although certainly this should be included wherein) as a musical object (that is, an object of beautiful sound, indeed sound art) but art as it is in and of itself, that is what is most essential although it is not of course entirely dominant. It is the history, the entirely length of all music and with that all sound and art that this album points to, if you get my drift, so we cannot be too damning in our critique, and with that, shoudl always cast a glance on the inspirations for the work, and with that lay part of the credit as well as part of the blame. Of course there is much more to be said, and much more to say, but in conclusion we must of course ad although to neglect it the realm of comercialism surely must always be at least a tainted virtue, it still, likely, is worthy of consideration if not full purchase. No more 80s sounding. The whole 80s revival has run it course. Give it a rest!

  1. A much darker, more ambitious set of songs than the Knife's previous work.
  2. On Silent Shout, The Knife have shaken off their more tangential musical inclinations and produced an intensely cohesive album, a monochrome rainbow that has emerged from the unfocused torrential rainstorm of before.
  3. This is one of the most rich and accomplished albums of recent times. Essential.
