This is Neil Young at his very best. Honestly one of the most amazing albums I have even heard in my entire life. Neil Young stays entirely away from orchestral arrangements, brass, and electric guitars for the entire album and the result is his most powerful album.

One of my favourite Neil Young albums by far. Razor Love and Without Rings are the best! Not for rockin out of course, but for getting mellow it's fantastic!

The older I am, the better this album sounds. I like live DVD version with some extra songs (taken from Looking Forward CSNY album). Strong melodies. This one is IMHO much better than LwW or Prairie Wind. Better songs than on the other albums.

  1. With hushed arrangements that feature little more than acoustic guitar and piano over bass and drums, plus the occasional steel guitar or pump organ, the album is Young at his simplest and most easygoing.

This one finds him getting almost downright sappy. But it suits him well.
  3. A wonderfully warm recording, Silver & Gold is country-folk soaked in co-producer Ben Keith's crying pedal steel, Neil's harmonica, fiddles, acoustic guitars and even Emmylou and Linda for good measure on one cut.
