  1. While Silver Lake sounds like a Vic Chesnutt album through and through, it's also a better than average introduction to the man's work.
  2. Chesnutt has finally made an album that utilizes the full range offered by lush, fully adorned production to his advantage, accenting the strengths of his songwriting but never jockeying for position with his most distinctive traits.
  3. Top to bottom, this may be Chesnutt's best effort since his 1996 disc About to Choke.

Full and lush, yet somehow homey and direct. [May 2003, p.97]
  5. Silver Lake is filled with quirks and emotions which ensure that it still sounds primarily like a Chesnutt album.
  6. Q Magazine

His best since 1995s Is The Actor Happy? [May 2003, p.100]
  7. Uncut

His obvious poetic and melodic gifts have seldom sounded so compelling. [May 2003, p.108]

Great album, Zippy Morocco is so haunting. I very much enjoy listening to it.
