Replacing buoyant guitars and boy-girl dilemmas with dark themes of religion, parenthood and death, this [album] is a bridge to grittier material, albeit that with a glittering pop-rock handrail. [Nov 2011, p. 143]

One can only wonder how Sinners Never Sleep would have fared had it been more consistent. [Nov 2011, p.98]

For a record that could've gone in one of two directions, it manages the neat trick of going in both.

There's no shame in appealing to a more commercial crowd, and if You Me at Six could have continued to pursue the album's more mature mainstream moments instead of trying to prove their rawk credentials, Sinners Never Sleep would probably have turned out to be a more consistent affair.

The album dips when they try too hard not to be pop.

Since it should be noted that the previous 2 albums were, although good, quite generics. In this case, You Me At Six obtained the identity that they wish they had taken for more than one album.

Still, the album does not bring anything to the table. Let's say it's generic, but not in the same field as its predecessors. It's basically what you would expect from a Pop Punk band that has been in the media for years.

It is good, but nothing out of the ordinary, is a simple search for a more marked identity, something to applaud, for the experimental of this. In addition, it escapes many times of the themes that You Me At Six uses. (Romantic)
Especially for Loverboy, song that establishes a "narrative" along with a personage that the band calls "Loverboy", but that does not work very well like opening for the album.

    Best songs:
    1. Loverboy.
    2. Bite My Tongue.
    3. Little Death.
    4. Crash (You Me At Six have always been good at ballads. This is evident in Always Attract and Give).

Singles can be easily distinguished as the album does lack depth throughout all the songs. Nice to see them avoid punk power chords like in Take off Your Colours but still wanted more!
