Most importantly, this holds up on re-listens, setting it apart from other similar oddities that not only lose power easily but overstay their welcome as well, two things Skyline expertly avoids.

A decadent listen seemingly begging for visual accompaniment, even Tiersen's propensity for nihilism can't sink Skyline's intoxicating, mud-splattered grace. [Jun 2012, p.156]
  3. Apr 18, 2012

Skyline reads as a series of tiny moments--not major life events but instead the beautiful, insignificant ephemera that falls away in the wake of life's progress.
  4. Apr 18, 2012
    60
Expectations are defied by a series of grand, eccentric chamber essays, and only a paucity of Tiersen's killer melodies disappoints. [Nov 2011, p.99]
