An amazing album for those who like intimate, simple melodies in a beautiful orchestration. No heavy or noisy cacophony, only 'sweet' athmospheres are evoked by the nine similar but meantime so different songs. Not for the headbanging audience.

The album sometimes recalls Nick Drake, but still rides on its own wave. There's a reason why Halstead's considered to be one of the UK's best songwriters...

  1. The aching sensitivity of many of these lonely acoustic compositions is balanced against an inventive backdrop of instrumentation.
  2. The nine songs retain an insular, slept-in charm, with the same Californian Nick Drake brief as Mojave 3.

The same drifting mood is maintained from start to finish, all nine songs being gently eclectic acoustic musings with occasional electronic decorations. [Apr 2002, p.101]
