    Boyle isn't an interpreter, necessarily, finding new meanings of songs; instead, the songs are pitched toward her specific skills, so there's an inevitable sameness to her albums, as they all consist of slow, pretty versions of songs you know by heart.

    Her overemphasised enunciation puts Boyle firmly in the Julie Andrews stage show tradition but, at her best, she rises above inoffensive background music to gently brush the emotions.

    What a shocking album, way to slow, doesn't have anything there to keep me interested in the album. The album sound like a desperate attempt to build her her previous success, but it fails miserably. Her vocals aren't as strong and yh the songs just aren't interesting. Its just a way to slow album for mainstream success.… Expand

    Some music critics arent telling u how they tweeted on Review day of how they dreaded reviewing her cd b4 they even did. Many were biased 2 begin with. One called her a church rodent whom only sang “Inspirational Songs” on the cd. She didn’t even LISTEN to it ,only eager to move onto someone else . This is NOT an “inspirational only cd’ and there is no “sameness” about it . RETURN an ORIGINAL song is a blessing 4 Military families and a greater belter then her BGT audition.No critic noticed this or cared.Youtube Susan Boyle Return Tommyusa to see an emotional military tribute to the song Return then shame the critics whom didn’t want to review her in the 1st place and might otherwise have turned many military families away from hearing this phenomenal track.. LILAC WINE is smouldering, sultry ,torchy, completely outside of the box that’ll make ur jaw drop. Autumn leaves may make many misty eyed. Enjoy the Silence and Mad World are gothic sounding with a bit of rock One music critic tweeted the word “Brilliant” to describe Both Sides Now . Susan sounds like a different singer on every single song. Cant say that about 2 many artists whom “sound the same” for every song..She may sing some easy listening , but each one SOUNDS like a singer you may have heard b4. Her voice is that unique . This cd is a classic . Not one bad or dull track on it. U will grow to love every song. One day Music critics will relent and let Miss Boyle "join the club" but for now , she is pretty much kept outside of it by them . Not taken seriously and few want to even bother reviewing or listening to her . But at least she has multitudes of fans round the world whom say different. FIVE STARS!!… Expand
