this is one of Bonnie's best..... great songwriters she's found along with some great soulful grooves and some really interesting beats, Bonnie and the band have really found themselves experimenting but nothing to much out of her fan base yet eye opening performances. She has only gotten better with each new release. Not a bad song in the bunch, favorites, "The bed I made", this is one of Bonnie's best..... great songwriters she's found along with some great soulful grooves and some really interesting beats, Bonnie and the band have really found themselves experimenting but nothing to much out of her fan base yet eye opening performances. She has only gotten better with each new release. Not a bad song in the bunch, favorites, "The bed I made", "Trinkets", "I will not be broken", "So close", "God was in the water", "Crooked Crown" as well as the beautiful "I don't want to change a thing" and the New Orleans grooves of "Uneccessraily Mercenary", "Two lights in the nightime", just a masterpiece of fashioned sound and soulful singer! 1. Throughout, Raitt holds her ground without digging a rut.
  2. Gone are the big washes of sound that Don Was added to her Grammy-winning recordings, and the sound Raitt has chosen for herself is a bit edgier, far more adventurous than Silver Lining.

An adventurous change of pace that stretches Raitt beyond her previous recordings. [17 Sep 2005]
