  • Summary: This is the debut album for the country-pop duo of Michelle Branch and Jessica Harp.

  1. The great majority of Stand Still, Look Pretty is tuneful, tastefully rootsy, and quite engaging country-pop.
  2. This is a solid, sturdy set of songs befitting their rootsy-but-not-exactly-honky-tonk settings.
  3. Solid songs all, delivered with a muscular vocal conviction that does considerably more than merely sell them.

Great country needs the grit that is missing here. [26 May 2006, p.106]

At times you wish Branch and Harp would dig deeper. [Jun 2006, p.149]
  6. A thoroughly dull collection of acoustic-based country-rock ballads you could hear at any local open-mike night.
  7. Really, all there is to be said about The Wreckers is that, in playing country star dress-up, they're reasonably pleasant and inoffensive, which puts them a bit ahead of a good deal of what's currently popular in country music.

I've been a Michelle Branch for quite some time, and a Jessica Harp fan for just a little less than that, and I must say, addition does I've been a Michelle Branch for quite some time, and a Jessica Harp fan for just a little less than that, and I must say, addition does not equal subtraction, in this case. Each of these young women have strong, powerful voices, and, together, they are dynamic. "Stand Still, Look Pretty" is great for the country lover, but enjoyable for everyone. Songs like "Stand Still, Look Pretty" and "Tennessee" are raw, emotional, and heart-felt, while "My, Oh My" and "Crazy People" are just plain fun. I'm absolutely addicted to this album, and I can't wait for the Rascal Flatts tour this summer, which is sure to bring these gals a lot of publicity. Expand

I haven't stopped listening to this album since the day of its release. I have multiple copies so I'm never anywhere without it. It you like pop music, you'll like this album. Its got a little bit of everything and their harmonies are absolutely amazing. Michelle Branch and Jessica Harp are both amazing artists, and together, they provide an amazing album.

I gave it a 10 because 11 wasn't on the list. One of the few CDs on which I like every song.
