Instead of trying to blowIn a climate that demands more and more technicality from metal bands and artists this is a breath of fresh air. Instead of trying to blow away listeners with fretboard wizardry, insane drum or particularly technical vocals, Storm Corrosion have focused on writing an album of just brilliant songs that you will want to listen to time and again. It's not a particularly easy first listen but if you give it a chance you will be far from disappointed. Steve Wilson (Porcupine Tree) and Mikael Akerfeldt (Opeth) have done themselves proud and thoroughly silenced critics before they could utter a word. With immense pressure and expectation surrounding this release they have managed to surprise fans in the best way possible. A very real challenger for the best album of 2012. Collapse

Whilst very familiar with the work of Stephen Wilson I knew nothing of Mikael Åkerfeldt and had some Swedish Death Metal worries... Nothing like that at all! Almost folk in places with sumptuous sounds, interesting development of songs and very listenable... highly recommended! Expand

It is like a silent depressing person, suffering from his inside. Most of the songs are good, but they doesn't stand up to be great, they have good atmosphere with relaxing tones and good lyrics, but at the end they were forgettable, except for one. In the whole album there was a song that really stood up from the other records by far, it was the last track. Ljudet Innan is one of the best songs I've have ever listened to, it feels relaxing, depressing, hopeless and comprehensible to it's listeners. It portrays you the artist feelings in such an inspiring way that just a few songs could do. If i had to grade the song i will give it a 11/10, but sadly I am grading the whole album. If it wasn't for that song, i will give it a solid 7/10. But I am not saying that the other songs are useless, it is better If you listen it completely to take you to that beautiful epic conclusion. Ljudet Innan is a song I will never forget in my life, it makes my feelings speak in a silent way and that's why i consider the album so underrated. Expand

Wow, at least about 75% of it is great, I find it does tend to drag a bit towards the end. There still is a bit of an Opeth vibe if not sound to the album which has lots of strings, acoustic picking and a very languid pace. I find it's actually a nice listen after Heritage, again not similar in sound but in feel just as eerie...maybe even more so.
Wilson does most of the vocal duties, which are excellent, but I was a bit suprised. Certainly off the beaten track but well worth it...
