    While this might indeed be a coming-of-age record, it's very clear that this is an acknowledging age and existence experience.

    As a band, Yellow Ostrich is in its infancy, and it's forgiveable that they haven't quite found the best way to show their hand both as a unit and as separate entities at this stage.

    On "Wear Suits," the trio reveals it can pull off the measured uptown elegance of The Blue Nile, but otherwise, singer/guitarist Alex Schaff delights in scribbling over his songs, as his boyish vocals vacillate between preciousness and brattiness. [May 2012, p.84]

    Minimalist indie rock drawing from folk and alternative, are the components from album by Yellow Ostrich - "Strange Land". An excellent example of the style presented on the disc is the first track "Elephant King". Next, we have only small deviations from it, such as post-punk "The Shakedown", or lethargic, "I Got No Time For You".… Expand
