I loved this album, the way they combine the guitar and the electronic beats is brilliant. This is a very good start for this act. "Backwords" will be easily one of the best songs of 2012.

I recently had the pleasure of seeing Porcelain Raft support M83. 'Strange Weekend' is a stunning debut, fragile yet robust, with 'Shapeless & Gone', 'Unless You Speak From Your Heart' and 'The Way In' as stand out tracks. Hopefully a sign of even better things to come. At 35 minutes it is short, but dense.

This album is a good example of why having the once again trendy reverb drenched shoegaze sound doesn't always mean you are in for a bore of an album. The songs are well-crafted and tuneful pop gems. Catchy on first listen and I'm sure they'll grow on me even more the second time around.

Porcelain Raft's airy concoctions work best when you're not thinking about them.
  2. All in all, it's a solid debut effort and one that never spares on electronic dramatics and an extensive array of far-ranging ideas.

In many ways, this album feels more like a culmination than a debut, and Remiddi's vast and varied musical experience infuse his songs with a sense of confidence and craftsmanship that is often lacking in the work of his younger and less experienced peers.
