Black Thought is rightfully held as a model for what Hip Hop fans could (and should) expect from MCs demanding to be held in high regard. The project’s only fault is its length prevents the five nearly flawless records truly getting off the ground.

The production here is all skeletal beats but heavy-hitting drums, letting Thought do most of the heavy-lifting on his own. ... Ultimately, Thought’s first solo release does what’s expected of him; I just wish it did a little more.

Rigorous but rarely hermetic, the album is a small testament to his sustained excellence.

Instant Classic. Carefully laid out beats accompanied by the lyrical wordsmith of a veteran. What else can you ask for?

Many evocative references, colourful beats paced with heavy drums, consistent and understandable lyrics, a high dose of self-confidence, wonderful samples, rich and tasteful vocabulary, this is the recipe of 'Streams of Thought vol. 1'.
If some tracks remain strange as the gritty 'Dostoyevsky' mysterious one, the rest manages to do the trick.
Too bad it only is a very short EP, and too bad Black Thought chose to show similar skills throughout all the tracklist. The last track 'Thank You' particularly shines in my opinion thanks to the female contribution of KIRBY and the change of pace and tones. Would have enjoyed more like this one.
