[Disciple], while not as tight and gritty as his debut, is far more ambitious in scope and fearless in its approach. [3 Dec 2004, p.84]
  2. There's just enough to be cut that this could have been one outstanding album instead of two discs that overall make a pretty damn good release.
  3. Street’s Disciple reveals Nas at a new peak, finally comfortable in the post-millennial hip-hop world.
  4. The well-worn beats ensure the album is good even as they prevent it from being great.

The beats throughout are deliriously varied. [Dec 2004, p.138]
  6. Older rap fans will probably feel the album's subtler pulsings more, but anyone will be able to appreciate the raw talent required to keep such an epic and sprawling project buoyant, without resorting to boring braggadocio and bawdy bling.
  7. If reduced to a single disc, Street's Disciple could well be one of the more exciting albums of the year. As is it's a solid, if not brilliant album from an artist we've come to not expect too much from.

Nas has created one of the best albums of his career since his debut album Illmatic, Street's Disciple is a work of art. When I first listenNas has created one of the best albums of his career since his debut album Illmatic, Street's Disciple is a work of art. When I first listen to the album, I thought it was alright, but after a couple of listens, I fell in love with the album. I love all the songs from a double disc album from start to finish. The beats are straight up fire, and I love the production he was going for on the album. Nas's flows are fantastic as usual, and his bars are dope. One of best album to ever come out of back in 2004. I highly recommend it. Expand

To me, this album is as good a double CD as we are going to get. The quality of songs is high both lyrically and musically. Plus, he has To me, this album is as good a double CD as we are going to get. The quality of songs is high both lyrically and musically. Plus, he has catered for all his fans, from those that love grimy street tales("Thieves Theme", "Streets Disciple" and "Sekou Story") to inspiring goood living in "Live Now" and "Just a Moment" to mature, yet creative cuts like "Bridging the Gap" and "No one else in the room." He went a step further by releasing "Coon Picniic", which has force public discourse about how celebrities ought to be. I'm loving Mr. Jones for being creative and bold enough to share his views on loads of issues, including the election, in such an insightful, yet thought-provoking way. Expand
