  • Summary: The third album for the UK band was produced by Flood and Paul Hartnoll.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 3 out of 10
  2. Negative: 0 out of 10
  1. A tiny step forward for indulgent Leeds outfit.
  2. Strength in Numbers turns out to be a nice comeback, particularly during the tracks that find that sweet spot between bubbling electronics and stadium Brit-rock.
  3. The positive to come out of this, however, is that on their third album, rather than hollering “YEEEAAHHH” or “WOOOOAAHHH” or “BAAAAYYBEEEEEE” quite a lot over the top of his bandmates’ still-exciting noise, Harvey now has something to sing about.
  4. Strength in Numbers is far from unlistenable--I don't know if your free time is spent sorting through stacks and stacks of charmless indie rock CDs that have the nerve to call themselves "pop," but when the chorus of the title track hits with the subtlety of a latter-day Nas album title, it's damn refreshing to hear a group bound for glory as shamelessly as the Music.
  5. For their third album, they've roped in Orbital's Paul Hartnoll to provide an electronic chassis, thus outing themselves as an even less subtle Kasabian.

The band remains shackled to that wearying off-beat pulse that cauise trhe likes of 'Fire,' 'Vision' and the title track to tire. [July 2008, p.112]
  7. Kasabian and their brass-necks have long since appropriated The Music's mantle of anthem-whoring psychedelic horsemen and there's barely a moment over the course of 12 tracks here where they contest that.

Good solid album, not their best work, but still a good album in its own right. I think some of the "professional" reviews on here are ridiculous.

Very disappointing. I was a fan of their last album but this is just full of samey and forgettable tracks. They really haven't Very disappointing. I was a fan of their last album but this is just full of samey and forgettable tracks. They really haven't progressed at all, if anything it's a step backwards. The title track is by far the best song (I had high hopes for the album after hearing that), but it goes nowhere after that. They're still better than those overrated idiots Kasabian though. Collapse
