Strike gently is generally not as fast paced as The Virgins 2008 self titled album. It is a huge change from album to album, but Strike gently delivers with such mesmerizing solo's and beats. Generally favorable album.

I was a huge fan of the band's self titled 2008 debut and while I don't know why it took them this long to release a sophomore album, I'm glad that it's finally here. Strike Gently isn't quite as frantically paced as its predecessor, but the grooves will still suck you in and leave you pleasantly buzzed.

They up the anthem count and resemble a lo-fi Dire Straits. [May 2013, p.112]

While many of those who fell in love with The Virgins the first time around may be put off by the absence of addictive indie-disco hits, Strike Gently is a quite remarkable, and effortlessly crafted, reinvention.

Strike has the Modern Lovers' deadpan vocals, Television's jagged Grooves, and Lou reed's street-hassle guitar riffs. [15 Mar 2013, p.62]
