Apr 6, 2012Alex Turner is just one of the greatest composers/musicians nowadays; either with the Arctic Monkeys, The Last Shadow Puppets or just as Alex Turner. He's been even considered as a poetician.

Jun 7, 2011Alex Turner composes these songs with as much love and attention as anything else he writes. The lyrics are intriguing and vivid... It meshes perfectly with the coming-of-age movie that these songs were written for. Hell, even my grandmother loved this album! Real music right here. If you want to feel calmed and want to listen to some poetry, then you should definitely give this a listen. 9/10

May 31, 2011Alex Turner is just a good musician, simple as that. He was good with the Shadow Puppets and he's good with this. Nice catchy songs that make ya bob your head. Good production, nice acoustic, nice warm up for those who still have not listened to the new Monkeys album.

Dec 6, 2011Turner walks a fine line of providing hushed mood music for a film, and delving into someplace deeper; his tunes aren't mere background music, yet there's a casualness to his Submarine songs that keeps them from truly resonating.

Apr 12, 2011It's a fine piece of work in its own right.

Apr 5, 2011Five swoony songs, sung beautifully, no duffers, and plenty of knotty lyrics to try and unravel. Another job well done.
