Super Taranta! Image
  • Summary: The second album from Side One Dummy Records for the New York band who are influenced by gypsy music.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 19 out of 22
  2. Negative: 0 out of 22
  1. On Super Taranta!, the NYC-based gypsy-punk crew is as energized as ever.
  2. Yes, it's the relentless energy, humour and versatility which makes this record stand out and apparently their albums are merely incidental compared to their stunning live shows.
  3. Much of the album begs to be vamped a few extra bars, to accompany a visual spectacle. [Summer 2007, p.80]

Ok. This is for me the album of the year so far. Give it a few listens and I'm sure that it will reward you. At last something different. And it's sure better than Gypsy Punks which was an amazing album. Expand

I have been hooked on this band since I saw them in an ex-polka hall on the East Side of Cleveland. Now they are a bigger deal playing bigger halls and they have not lost a bit of their fan-friendly showmanship nor has lead singer Hutz lost his political edge or partying glee. This album doesn't reinvent their sound and that is a good thing. Bring on more gigs! This is a show that has to be seen live to really believe in them. Expand

This album is flat out fantastic. I knew of "Start wearing purple" from some years ago. That's all I had heard from these guys. Until this album came along and just blew me away. I listened for the first time, then two hours later I decided I should stop and take a shower. So, I grabbed my towel but I had to play one more song to keep fresh in mind, for my activity in the stall of cascading chlorinated tapwater. It did not work out. I sat there and played the album thru twice more with a towel over my shoulders. I love it with wonderlust, and I've gotta see these guys live. Expand
