Hands down one of the best metal albums of 2011 so far. The bass seems to be buried in the mix but this still features some phenomenal guitar work and thunderous vocals and drumming. Highly recommended.

Surtur Rising is more of the same from Amon Amarth. But when the material is that good, who's going to complain? One of the most prolific death metal bands from Sweden, they unleash here once again a powerful piece of work that is atmospheric, melodic and thunderous. Not their best work (that would be 2001's Versus The World), but as many have pointed out, even a lesser album by AmonSurtur Rising is more of the same from Amon Amarth. this album is reall good but there are a couple of lack luster songs on this album but i would say about 7 of the songs are really good and i recommend this to anyone who like metal music this could possibly be the best death metal band of the last decade

Pure strength, all the album deserve to be heard, War of the Gods is energizing and Last stand of Frej have a breathtaking outro.

Todo el disco es buenisimo, con Destroyer of the universe te sientes invencible!

They're one of the most consistent bands in metal, and this is a terrific example of them playing to their strengths.

Full of old-school gallop and intelligible vox, the Digipak configuration bonuses a DVD plundering three unflagging hours of live footage from Germany, a run of nights covering peak LPs The Avenger (1999), The Crusher (2001), and Versus the World (2002).

Every moment is charged with the perfect balance of power, melody, and muscle. [26 Mar 2011, p.51]
