Ferraro pulls off the trick of sounding cheap and luxurious all at once. [Feb 2013, p.73]

On the whole, it's more entertaining than resonant.

It's an interesting change of direction, and arguably a good one too.

Sushi is more centred in the present, and more focused altogether. [Jan 2013, p.64

Sushi's main strength is the way it draws from so many strands of contemporary electronic music, but sounds like something else in its own right.

In the case of Sushi, about half the album is worth hearing.
  7. Like Silica Gel, Sushi isn't a bad album; it's just disappointingly mediocre, and I expect better than that from the psychedelic underground's clown prince of Cool Runnings and backseat-of-grandma's-Oldsmobile Top-40 jams.

Sushi sounds enthusiastic but slight, with generic synths and run-of-the-mill dubstep-inflected bass lines.

This album’s seeming eschewal of depth and nuance of meaning leaves it feeling ultimately hollow.
