Taste The Secret - Ugly Duckling
Taste The Secret Image
  • Summary: The sophomore effort for the quirky Long Beach-based alt-rap trio is a concept album about their alleged time spent working at a fast food chain called Meatshake. Really.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 6 out of 8
  2. Negative: 0 out of 8
  1. The total effect is less a spin through 3 Feet High and Rising than it is an hour of Yogi Bear cartoons -- fine when you hear any one track, but much too much over the course of a full album.
  2. Taste The Secret skids by giddily on buoyant beats and gently satirical songs.
  3. 60
It goes down like a cold fresh glass of Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, circa 1988. [Sep 2003, p.102]

I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place when it comes to this album because it IS, without a doubt, the best album I've ever heard. So my problem is I like the fact that not everyone owns it, not everyone has heard it and it's not all over the radio. But then it's so good that i want Ugly Duckling to get that kind of sucess, because they deserve it! I have my favourite tracks on the album but more often than not find myself listeing to the whole thing by accident, it's just that good. I have been hammering this album for quite some time and I'm still not bored of it, I don't think I'm going to get bored of it either, that's why i have to give it 10 out of 10. I'm only 23, so I've not been around for long and I understand that there are people who must have a far better appreciation of music than me just for the simple fact that they will have heard more, but I've heard some fantastic albums in my time and I've got bored of them, I can't see when I'm going to get bored of this album. Please if you do not own it, do yourself a favour and get a copy now! It could have the power to make your life better! Expand
