  • Summary: Kelis' third LP (second in the States) features production from the Neptunes, Dallas Austin and Andre 3000.

  1. Much of the beauty of Tasty is in witnessing Kelis rise to the challenge of working with multiple imaginative maestros. [12 Dec 2003, p.76]
  2. Despite all the new assistance, Tasty is formatted much like Kaleidoscope and Wanderland, constantly swinging back and forth between bouncy pop and laid-back (not throwback) soul.
  3. Far and away her most radio-friendly album to date.
  4. 80
This is Kelis' big moment, and she more than rises to the occasion. [Feb 2004, p.82]
  5. Her best work--lighter and more cohesive than [Wanderland], more focused and mature than [Kaleidoscope]. [22 Jan 2004, p.68]
  6. Whereas Wanderland at least felt like Kelis was moving in a new direction... Tasty seems retrogressive, a step back into a more conventional landscape of guest raps and heavy basslines. [Mar 2003, p.106]

A Very Good Album. "Milkshake" was the hype, but what people didn't hear was the rest of this great album. Kelis's voice is enough to grab your atention, but combine that with hot beats and synths and you get a masterpiece. Key Tracks: "Milkshake" "In Public" "Marathon" Expand

Kelis' music has always been tough to categorize. Something like Alternative urban might do. She's always kind of reminded me of Björk. 'Trick me' is the opening track and it's a delightful bouncy slightly reggae-tinged number. Very catchy. The innuendo laden 'Milkshake' (Grammy nominated top 3 hit) is also really catchy and reminiscent of 'Nasty girl' by Vanity 6. Same goes for 'In public' which features Nas providing a slightly risque rap. Raphael 'Nusoul' Saadiq provides 3 classy numbers, 'Glow', 'Attention' which grabs your attention, and 'Marathon' which is one of my favorites, with ethereal vocals closing the song. 'Stick up' is fantastic, featuring ghostly whistling and humming. 'Sugar honey iced tea' is a fantastic breezy number from the Neptunes. This is a good cd which grabs you instantly, but gets even better the more you hear it. Never a dull moment. I hope with this, Kelis finally gets the recognition she deserves. Expand

Rock on rocker chick Glow by far is the best song on the cd besides the irresistable Milkshake!

Amazing album. I know Kelis is kind of a one hit wonder, with her song "Milkshake", but this album really started her career. One of my favorite songs just so happens to be on the album, and it's called "Trick Me". Expand
