    To judge Perry as inauthentic or unoriginal would be wrong; as with any great ad campaign, uncanny familiarity is her greatest achievement. However, for all the pomp and watermelon costumes, Perry is primarily a smart and personal pop songwriter. And «Teenage Dream» shows in carefully selected spots-that she's ready to grow up.

The highlights arrive i the ballad adjacent endeavours such as the spellbinding nostalgia of "teenage dream" that takes you to the ephemeral highs of uncharted adolescence and the contrasting regretful "the one that got away" . I cannot emphasis the appeal of this record. Despite the lows of "peacock " insufferable chorus and childish squeal or the forgettable crawl of "circle the drain" it's certified bops like "last friday night " that capture the cliches of highschool successfully in both the song and music video. It's a full portrait of an artist at their creative peak with a tight unwavering hold on pop culture cementing themselves as staples. And you can't downplay that… Expand

    Since I do not know the best way to start this review, maybe I should just begin by saying I am very impressed with Katy Perry’s Sophomore album, Teenage Dream. Like its predecessor (though more on the “pop side”), Teenage Dream does a wonderful job of being a wonderful blend of rock and pop, which makes it a blast to listen to the whole way through. From catchy lyrics to ballads about lost love to the occasional slap bass, this album packs in a lot of punch.

    I wish I could include all my song-by-song commentary, but that would push the review past the character limit.

    Overall, I was very happy with Teenage Dream. I know I’m listening to this as if someone is watching a movie released 15 years ago, but I am very excited to listen to Perry’s subsequent release. This pop-rock direction she is heading in is very enjoyable and I just find myself wanting more. Her fun lyrics combined with her outstanding music make Teenage Dream a winner for me, and should also be a hit for the greater pop community (some rock fans may really get down with this as well, like I did). Highlights: Teenage Dream, Last Friday Night, California Gurls, Firework, Circle The Drain, The One That Got Away, E.T., Pearl, Hummingbird Heartbeat, Part Of Me, Wide Awake, and Dressin’ Up.    … Expand

    So many hits in this album you know at least three songs by heart that bring you back to sunny, young and joy-full summers from years ago. The only problem I find with it is that apart from the singles, the rest of the songs aren't memorable enough and they don't work well to make a wholesome body of work.

    Apesar de ser um dos singles mais fracos e fáceis, a nostalgia é muito forte. Foi bem pensada e e bem POP.

    4. Firework (10/10):
    Uma potência vocal incrível, um instrumental perfeito e uma letra muito importante.

    5. Peacock (08/10):
    Os fãs da Katy são bem divididos com essa faixa, uns ama e outros odeiam. Eu fico no meio, apesar da letra estupida, eu acho engraçada e boba.

    É legal, mas nada demais, simples e estranha na primeira escutada.

    7. The One That Got Away (10/10):
    É linda e emocionante, não poderia ser melhor. A melodia é genial.

    Pra mim, essa é a melhor faixa do Standard. Perfeita, o instrumental é maravilhoso, o refrão é viciantemente bom (não é um pop chato que fica na cabeça, realmente é bem pensado).

    É bacana. As melhores partes são quando Katy atinge a nota alta no refrão. Mas não é nada demais.

    TEENAGE DREAM un álbum genial muy comercial lleno de buenas canciones en distintas facetas todas increíbles debió haber ganado mas de 1 grammy al igual que PRISM Y WITNESS se lo merecían sol albumes increíbles mucho mas coherentes que otras canciones de otros artistas.

Teenage dream is my personal favourite - summer vibe easy going song with her soft voice. Non singles are pretty okay, but with huge exception of Peacock. Why? How did this happend? And Hummingbird Heartbeat didn(t get my heart either. But it's not bad. But didn't have to make it to the album. In the end - I do reccomend… Expand

These songs are bulletproof from letting the valid criticism affect their commercial performance but also aren’t well-written aside from a couple of songs. Foi uma era totalmente visual, e por estar precisando de mais raios de sol na minha vida, logo fez com eu mergulhasse naquele mundo algodão-doce e virasse um “fanboy” realmente aficionado na cantora que flertava com aliens e queEu me senti tão abraçado!     To judge Perry as inauthentic or unoriginal would be wrong; as with any great ad campaign, uncanny familiarity is her greatest achievement. However, for all the pomp and watermelon costumes, Perry is primarily a smart and personal pop songwriter. And «Teenage Dream» shows in carefully selected spots-that she's ready to grow up.

    One of two albums to ever have 5 of it's tracks hit #1 on the Hot 100, and there's a reason why. Teenage Dream expanded on Perry's popularity with classic tracks such as Firework, Teenage Dream, E.T., Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) and California Gurls. Such a timeless album.
