  • Summary: The Grammy Award-nominated singer's sophomore release is full of pop-rock gems and features guest appearances from Snoop Dogg and Rivers Cuomo.

  1. For all the pomp and watermelon costumes, Perry is primarily a smart and personal pop songwriter. And Teenage Dream shows-in carefully selected spots-that she's ready to grow up.
  2. Beneath the fruity outfits and fart jokes, Perry is clearly serious about the business of hit songcraft; that doesn't make Dream nearly cohesive as an album, but it does provide, intermittently, exactly the kind of high-fructose rush she's aiming for.
  3. There's intelligence, individuality and character in abundance. But all too often it's caked in dollar-store body glitter and choked by feather boas.
  4. Unfortunately, the fun peaks around the time that Snoop Dogg officially hands over his thug-life card during the previously released "California Gurls," a slice of sunny disco-pop perfection that suggested Teenage Dream just might trump 2008's spotty but enjoyable One Of The Boys. Instead, Perry returned with lots of ho-hum ballads and lackluster radio fodder as limp as the discarded lover in the dis track "Circle The Drain."
  5. If you've heard the singles, which you probably have, then you've heard the best Teenage Dream has to offer
  6. Teenage dreamer turns in nightmare of a second record.
  7. With music as rigidly formulaic as this, no wonder the teens in her songs want to party until they blank out.

Every songs are great, but it's together, in a whole CD, that they take life to make probably my favorite 2010 pop album after Christina Aguilera's Bionic. Teenage Dream is an album that has a lot of different sounds and that a wide range of people will enjoy. I think that this album is for a younger public and has a #1 potential at The Billboard 200. A great team behind a great album. Good work Katy Perry! Collapse

Believe me, when she's good, she's damn good (with the addictive 'Peacock', let me hear you sing 'Peacock-cock-cock' cause you can't resist it), when she tries too hard though... it ended up disastrously (seriously, your homage to our beloved extra terrestrial is that shallow). Still, one cannot deny that this album is filled with jam packed pop songs (at least half of it) that can instantly appeal to most, the lack of auto-tune surprises me (shame on you Ke$ha) and that alone is worth checking the album it, it's solid and too be honest, isn't it way better than 'One Of The Boys'. Should have be realesead as a EP like Usher did. Seems strange to me see a woman, (not a girl), singing those songs. Think people doesnt know what is really a great album. Expand
