  • Summary: The Grammy Award-nominated singer's sophomore release is full of pop-rock gems and features guest appearances from Snoop Dogg and Rivers Cuomo.

  1. For all the pomp and watermelon costumes, Perry is primarily a smart and personal pop songwriter. And Teenage Dream shows-in carefully selected spots-that she's ready to grow up.
  2. Beneath the fruity outfits and fart jokes, Perry is clearly serious about the business of hit songcraft; that doesn't make Dream nearly cohesive as an album, but it does provide, intermittently, exactly the kind of high-fructose rush she's aiming for.
  3. Teenage Dream is the kind of pool-party-pop gem that Gwen Stefani used to crank out on the regular, full of SoCal ambience and disco beats.
  4. Unfortunately, the fun peaks around the time that Snoop Dogg officially hands over his thug-life card during the previously released "California Gurls," a slice of sunny disco-pop perfection that suggested Teenage Dream just might trump 2008's spotty but enjoyable One Of The Boys. Instead, Perry returned with lots of ho-hum ballads and lackluster radio fodder as limp as the discarded lover in the dis track "Circle The Drain."
  5. There's none of the ABBA or Cardigans influence she claimed, nor any of the fun she seems to have in real life. For now she just sounds like another of pop's Stepford Wives.
  6. Teenage dreamer turns in nightmare of a second record.
  7. With music as rigidly formulaic as this, no wonder the teens in her songs want to party until they blank out.

It sizzles with such potential hits and pop melodies. My favorite songs on the album are the empowering "Firework", the electronic "E.T.", the spectacular title track and the lovely ballad "Not Like The Movies". I can see every one of the tracks on the album becoming a hit. The album shows Perry in a new light and if you didn't enjoy "One of the Boys", you will certainly enjoy this one. I suggest everyone to pick up a copy of this spectacular CD (which should have won Best Pop Vocal Album at this year's Grammy Awards). Expand

Perhaps Perry is quite successful and full of #1, that's not what matters in a disc but its quality. Although it has songs enough good as "Circle The Drain", "Hummingbird Heartbeat" and the indomitable "Firework", Perry does not give much attention paid (except at Firework) and decides to only launch the World singles with mediocre lyrics and with the only purpose of the Charts in Billboard. Bad fact Katy Expand

Teenage Dream (8) While I am a semi Katy Perry fan, I think this album is pretty good. Teenage Dream has a really great message associatedTeenage Dream (8) While I am a semi Katy Perry fan, I think this album is pretty good. Teenage Dream has a really great message associated with it and the music video I think is good as well. The chorus is good and makes Katy Perry a great mainstream artist for women and men, especially little girls who like to buy her Tee Shirts. #BodyDoubles #Capitalism

Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F) (7.5) This song has a great little beat and the music video is good for little girls that are insecure about how they look along with the hidden sexual overtones. The chorus is the best part. It does promote bad things to0 America's youth so that is why I bumped the review down a bit.

California Gurls (8) I was going to give this song a 8.5 but she acts why to bubbly in the music video. Candy Land was one of my favorite board games growing up though. Snoop Lion does make an appearance in this music video which is cool.

Firework (8) This is probably my second favorite track on the album because the better message Katy Perry is promoting to people. The message essentially is to stand out in a crowd in a good way and not a dirty liberal. I really like the music video for alot of reasons as well.

**** (6.41) This song is really trashy so the '41' numbers can be either/or for the sh!t talkers. #MedicalRecords

Circle The Drain (8) This song really takes the album in a good direction I think. It has a good mainstream rock sound that really makes Katy Perry sound like a credible artist and not poppy and MTV like.

The One That Got Away (7.5) This song was made I think to mess with the heads of men and women who have lost someone that was important to them. The story behind this song to me is funny because I didn't want to watch it for the longest of time.

ET (8.5) This is my favorite song on the album for alot of reasons I sometimes feel like I am from a different planet when I walk around town and just see a bunch of ignant stuff going on. The song has a great beat and the one with Kanye West is just as good and I know he probably is going to flip out if he reads this cause I know he's sick in the head like me. #BodyDoubles #Masks

Who Am I Living For? (8) I think it's funny that the songs on the albums that were not made into music videos are better than some of her singles. That is just my opinion though. This joint kind of reminds me of that new Celine Dion song that is out that is pretty good.

Pearl (7) The drum beat in the b(l)ackground is pretty good I think. I think this song is great for old women or for 'women' in their late twenties early thirties. I'm just turned off to this because it's for females and I'm not a girl.

Hummingbird Heartbeat (6.5) Another great trashy song that the record label wrote for her to sing.

Not Like The Movies (7.5) This is good direction the album goes into I think. Because real life is not like the movies for most people. They are called #crackers. I think this is a really pretty song even though it's more for females than males.

California Gurls (Passion Pit Remix) (8.5) I think this song is better than the original because of the electronica incorporated into it. The beat does a good job at making the song better and the filter they use of Katy Perry's voice is cool to.

California Gurls (Mstrkrft Remix) (8.75) This rendition of the California Gurls song is better than the one before it on the album playlist. The laser beam like sound in the beginning really made me want to listen to this song.

Teenage Dream (Kaskade Club Mix) (8.75) This is another great rendition to one of Katy Perry's originals she maybe didn't write. It would be a great song for a dance club or so sort of rave. I think these techno remix are a great way to finish up the album.

**** (Cory Enemy Mia Moretti Mix) (9.14) Nines are sixes and sixes are nines. #MedicalRecords #Reminder

You most certainly have the smallest brain that's for sure. #DirtyLiberals

The title-track "Teenage Dream" does not represent the whole album. The album is catchy, good pop songs and many potential hits. I would say that Katy Perry wants to deliver a party album but it turned out to be 80s. Firework is a good pop ballad. There are songs that lyrically talks about being married which is ironically to the concept of the album. The rocker element is still present in some songs of the album including the title track. "Last Friday Night" and "Peacock" are potential hits and as catchy like Ke$ha's song. Her voice is turned into a robot. Overall, the album is catchy and good. Expand
