It might be Tussle's most subdued music to date, but it works equally well as a hypnotic wash of sound and as riveting close listening, especially late at night.

The band now has the command of this organic/synthetic versatility in its toolbelt, often using it to find an ideal balance between highly finessed electronic soundscapes and bouts of raw, physical musicianship.
  3. Oct 16, 2012
    70
The album benefits from its fluid, improvisatory feel, not quantized to death like so much electronic music these days.
  4. Oct 8, 2012

This new direction from Tussle will disappoint some older fans, but it's going to reel in plenty of new ones. Time and patience are both required, but this album is worth plenty of both.
  5. Oct 8, 2012

Without that commitment to either pop immediacy or boundary-pushing weirdness, let alone being able to pull of both at once, Tussle are always going to feel like they occupy some kind of tepid middle-ground, however sharply their cymbals are recorded.
  6. Oct 8, 2012

Unfortunately the album as a whole, modulo a few bright sections, fails to come to life.
  7. Nov 30, 2012

The group sets into a jazzy groove that succeeds half of the time. [Oct/Nov 2012, p.127]
