  1. There are collaborations with Bobby Womack, Sheila E and George Clinton. All driven by the heavy funk bass of Collins. Which is never a bad thing.

A romp through Bootsy's former glories, subtly retooling them to sound comfortingly familiar yet not anachronistic. [May 2011, p.106]

Tha Funk Capital Of The World, is one of his best ever records as a front man and one of the most outrageously funky records released in years.

A tribute to the late P-Funk guitarist Garry Shider and an appearance from Bootsy's older brother Catfish Collins -- who died before the album saw release -- add poignancy to this rich and funky success.

The length and sheer number of guest stars mean it;'s somewhat rambling, but when you're talking P-funk, what's new? [May 2011, p.112]
  6. 60
The densely-textured arrangements can get a bit stodgy in places, and the last few tracks slip into dreary bubblebath-boudoir mode, but Bootsy's blithe drawl, the vocal equivalent of a bubble, is usually around to lift one's spirits.

When Collins' distinctive voice and bass work have been limited to side projects and guest appearances on others' albums for this long, it's disappointing when he seems to be hiding on his own album.
