The album is largely mediocre. Honestly, I feel guilty for giving this even a 6 because the entire album is so pathetically obviously constructed to get crossover radio play. B.o.B, however, simply does a solid job and is just socially conscious enough and just technically proficient enough to make this album a fair success. Best track: "Airplanes, Part II": This is the best track by far on the album mostly because of Eminem's verse (okay, only because of Eminem's verse), and one of only four I'd consider good songs.

Not a single song goes towards the generic modern hip-hop. Bobby Ray sneaks in some meaningful songs with some boastful ones which makes for one of the better rap albums in the last 15 years

One of the best songs ever is on this album. It is called "The Kids" and Janelle Monae is featured in it. But other than that and "Airplanes" the album is just dull.

A great opening to his fame, B.o.B. provides a fun sounding album with fun tunes and outstanding lyrics.

One Of The Top Albums of 2010 so far. b.o.b will soon be in the class of rappers like hopsin and lil kim. and hes more confident, funny, and better than them.

Even though this album is catchy it's not the Hip-hop i was looking for. B.o.B's new songs like Stange CLouds & Play the guitar are good Hip-hop tracks. Hopefully B.o.B can makea decent hi-hop album because this one was god awful

I have no words to describe the pain that my ears endured listening to this album. The worst rap I've ever heard for years, B.o.B is terrifying in the singing, not to mention the bases: we seem to hear the worst species as pop music. The track who must be saved is obviously Airplanes produced by Alex Da Kid, the rest is a horrible and mediocre pop-rap album. Expand

This album is fantastic. My favourite songs would have to be Don't Let Me Fall & Airplanes Part II. Seriously, if you love rap or even pop, this is the album for you.

Alternative hiphop-pop album with an aim at exposing the unique talents of B.O.B. to a wide and diverse mainstream market. It has elements of rock, pop and R'n'B which means that it feels quite soulless (ironically paralleled by the track "Ghost in the Machine") but on the flip side it is a highly polished record which deservedly has attracted global recognition. It has elements of rock, pop and R'n'B which means that it feels quite soulless (ironically paralleled by the track "Ghost in the Machine") but on the flip side it is a highly polished record which deservedly has attracted global recognition. The record proves that sometimes style is more important than substance but, again ironically, it is Eminem's verse on "Airplanes Part 2" which really grabbed my attention - off topic...maybe it is one of Em's greatest verses of all time. Bobby Ray is relevant to today's world but he may have to evolve some more before he can take his place in the Hip-hop & R'n'B hall of fame. Stand out track by far is "Airplanes Part 2". An absolutely huge record which exposes the gulf in class between the new and older hip-hop generations. 8/10 78/100 Expand

In many ways, the songs "Nothin' on You", "Airplanes" and "Airplanes, Part II" are the highlights of the album. However, the album is one of the greatest of 2010.

This album is really good. A lot of good songs on this album. One of the year best album. I didn't think this album was going be good. A very nice Alternative rap and pop rap album. I think B.o.b is really talented. One of the year best new artist.

  1. The rags-to-riches rap is a cliched one, but Simmons’ take feels brave.
  2. There are many quirks with this album, but realise that it doesn't feel like a debut from a fully-formed artist, rather someone that intermittently flickers with potential and then dials it down to play it safe for the radio.

The Adventures of Bobby Ray is a hip-hop Scary Movie, tossing off references (Vampire Weekend sample, Rivers Cuomo cameo) while struggling to establish a distinctive identity.
