  1. The B.Coming is no metamorphosis; Beans remains the same powerful but limited rhymer, a blunt object hammering the mic and stumbling after the ghost of Jay-Z.
  2. Sigel is qualified enough as an artist to hold down an album on his own, but one gets the sense he didn't want to take any chances this record wouldn't sell and had to make sure there was one cameo for everyone.
  3. Only two things matter here: the production, which is masterful, and Beanie himself, a virtuoso of lonely, bitter desperation.
  4. Those looking for a direct story of how Beanie earned three years in the clink will be somewhat disappointed, but these chunks of insight into the man's turmoil -- and the couple party tunes that go with them -- add up to one hell of an album.
  5. The B.Coming starts strong... [and] eventually flattens out into dark, brooding territory.
  6. The B. Coming attempts to document the emotional upheaval Sigel went through during his trial and conviction, but from the start the sober moral tone and forced gospel choruses make it obvious the MC's mind is on other matters.
  7. [A] worthless attempt at mainstream love.

As defiant as ever. [23 Apr 2005, p.51]

Sigel spills enough raw emotion on these top-shelf beats to make Ghostface Killa shed a tear. [Jun 2005, p.85]
  10. Vibe

At times, he overreaches. [Jun 2005, p.158]

About as insular and pensive a rap record as anyone's ever made. [May 2005, p.120]

Finds him at his most vulnerable--and his best. [15 Apr 2005, p.78]
  13. One of the strongest albums of 2005, Beanie Sigel stands among the greatest of the Roc-A-Fella catalogue with technical ability and an emotional severity worth experiencing.

Dope album. Beans does mature a great deal. Flatline and One Shot Deal are great duo joints with P Crizzy and Redman both dropping hot Dope album. Beans does mature a great deal. Flatline and One Shot Deal are great duo joints with P Crizzy and Redman both dropping hot verses. Lyrically though the star combines menace, hope, fear and even the blues to make this one of this year's best hiphop albums. Full Review »
