This perhaps one of the worst albums Ive ever heard...how this group continues to stay popular by making horrible music is beyond me.... The simplistic lyrics the corny bland beats its all trash...seems like the more horrible music you make the more popular you get.. sham BEP way back when (ie before Fergie) used to be somewhat dope...

Black Eyed Peas must be afraid to stand in the same that their previous album...it's a shame that they made this album...is the worst BEP album ever...auto-tune effect kill their music...is really disappointing...! I love BEP but this album is a really crap, simple and unnecessary for a great band..where is the reinvention and creativity of their previous album? this is not BEP...is an example of how commercial music attacks the good music..! Wait a second. Is this what people call music? God, if this is how music sounds today, well, it's very s***. Sorry, but this album right here is so bad that it makes my ears bleed. Stay away from this mess.

There's way too much Auto-Tune. The lyrics aren't smart. Fergie is missing in action most of the time. Standout tracks: "Someday", "Whenever"

I wonder if people ever even read reviews, and then read other people's critiques, I doubt that they ever condescend against the Black Eyed peas, You people obviously need to see the line between grading someones music and just pure bad-mouthing them, its bad music? WHY? What happened to logic these days? Those reviews you see are trimmed down to be short but you can read full reviews and understand, saying an album or music is bad goes beyond saying "you dont like it" I dont know why Metacritic ever bothered putting in a user score system when everyone who grades it are completly unfair, illogical, and not objective. I'm really surprised at Black Eyed Peas new album! They got deeper in dance music while getting a bit back in their old style. Absolutely no song is written "Hit!" on it, but as an album, it's way better than The E.N.D.. I think The Beginning will be less successful than its predecessor. If you loved Black Eyed Peas' last album, you'll worship this new opus. Black Eyed Peas takes a lot of old classics/successes and turn them into new songs. Sometimes like on The Time (Dirty Bit) the big techno beat after the chorus ruins the whole song. Too much autotune! But overall, great job Expand

I'm mad more than anyone about BEP's electric turn. But, Dirty Bit, Do It Like This, Someday, XOXOXO, Don't Stop The Party, and Turn It Up are great club bangers. Worst BEP album. But, honestly, I'd take that as a compliment.

So-so album ! It's not the best of the Black Eyed Peas, but in general it's a good album.I think they need to work more for and Fashion beats is my favourite song.

This is not their best. But this is one of the year's best. You have to agree that "The Time" is catchy as hell and other tracks are nice, such as "Light Up the Night", "Love You Long Time" and (maybe) "Just Can't Get Enough". I gave it 10/10 just because it's a whole new experience for the band and the listeners. "The E.N.D." was a futuristic album with no specified order of the tracks, making it a mess - though it was rather better (maybe that's why it took 4 years to record/write?) . "The Beginning" is much of a concept recording and kind of a euro-pop-techno-electro song, with a length of 77 minutes (deluxe version). It's simple, but it's simply perfect. Good job, looking for more and better. Thank you for reading. Expand

This album is really good; I love the tech no sounds to the songs. I like The E.n.d better but this one still rocks. Even though this album doesn't have songs like imma be and i got a feeling , it still has a nice feel to it. This is another hit album for BEP. This album has just about every genre. It has pop dance techno electro hip r&b soul and rock. BEP fans are going love this album.

I have to disagree with what seems to be the majority of reviews associated with this album. The album receives attacks addressing its cheesy demeanor. Thats the black eyed peas, if you've listened to any other track off this album, you'd notice that their brilliant cheese is very common. It's hard to distinguish which songs will become singles, since the whole album feels like one. The constant nagging on how the black eyed peas have lost their soul with Fergie and mainstream attention is prime example of opinion conformity. They've merely addressed what mainstream music craves. Delicious beats that literally force your body to get up and start dancing. While you're dancing you feel the words. You feel the delicious cheese coursing through your veins. Expand

We all know the Black Eyed Peas for the hitmakers that they are. The last album "The E.N.D." was a big success and contributed to the many good time memorizes that are created in the night life scene. Now "The Beginning" is a good album, but not their "best". However, there many people rejecting this new album for many reasons, yet the biggest reason is "horrible music". Now this is just an opinion, that I do not share, all of the songs on this album are far from horrible. It's a different sound than that of the previous album, but then again every album from the BEP's is different and unique. This new album has a old school feel yet mixed with modern grooves. That is what makes this album great, the mastery in mixing two decades of musical cultures into one album. That alone might even inspire other artist to follow right behind. Now moving on to the review of the songs that make this album a success. The most amazing, moving and capturing track that is sure to make the club jumping and moving is "The Time (Dirty Beat)". As the beginning of the track mentions, I must agree that this is an international beat MEGA radio smasher. From personal experience I cannot tell you how times I seen this song get the party started and grooving. When this track starts the people go wild and then you know, "This is going to be a good night". But what makes this track so good? Well other than the catchiness this tune presents, the lyrics is what gives this song its ultimate magical power. The next track "Light Up The Night" is a good follow-up to the album starter. This song has a great overall feel yet what really makes you feel good is the lyric " It's on and popping and we ain't stopping, let's light up the night" that is really powerful and captivating. Then comes the harmony and melody of "Love You Long Time" which has a calming effect on the body and wonderful feel. This track is a good, but not a club mover yet more of a pre-night time starter. The another track worth mentioning is "Someday", now track is more of a motivational tune and lifter. It is really catchy with the guitar lick incorporated into the fabric of the tune which contains a great beat that makes your head move. All of the other tracks on this album contain great beats and catchiness that finishes the album. According to Entertainment weekly writer Simon Vozick-Levinson, "Every song is piled high with sticky pop melodies, slick hip-hop rhythms, bright synth parts, and vocals that have been diced and processed to high heaven, all furthering the goal of maximum catchiness." I usually don't mention other writers but he has a point and conveys what I think of the music on this album perfectly. On a last note this album continues to expand the Fergie era and let me tell you, it is great! Expand

First time I heard it I could not understand the album, I was kind of disappointed, but then I started to listen again and again, I know I can not stop. It's a fantastic dance mature album, I think is fresh and well thought, and pretty fun. I disagree with people who do not enjoy music and because they keep the first impression they are close to a new chance. GOOD STUFF!! Expand

This album its a deception for all BEP fans who have been following them for a long time, they just made this album to sell something new, its just the "The E.N.D" style but really repetitive, they didn't make a new style or beat like they always do when a new album came out, they are like 1-2 good songs, don't think so they are really proud of this CD. This album seems to be trying hard to cash in on the newly reborn Electronic genre, playing on synths and auto-tune, to little returns. The Black Eyed Peas seem to show originality in some form in this album, but unfortunately, this originality doesn't suit them. Particularly bad songs include "Do it Like This" and "Own It", but the songs such as "Play It Loud" and "Whenever" partially redeem the album. Unluckily for the Peas, the poor songs outweigh the decent. Die-hard fans will undoubtedly claim to enjoy this album, but it could really have been so much more if previous albums are to be the benchmark, and the excessive auto-tune and horrific lyrical quality drops the album standard to disastrous. Songs will probably chart due to the general public eating any of the **** that MTV feed them. Expand

It's rare that I listen to an album and I am amazed at the production and catchiness of EVERY track. This is essentially a greatest-hits album. Each track has the potential to be a single. This electro/dance stuff is what's popular now. The music is creative and well-produced, the lyrics are somewhat commercial, but it's simple and it makes sense. And it provokes emotions. That's what a POP album should be. They stray away from their roots in hip-hop, but I'm more of a fan now because of this album. After listening to The E.N.D. album from 2009, you could expect that the following album would be more of a euro/electro/dance punch in the butt. I think less of The E.N.D. for not being more of a euro/electro/dance punch in the butt. The Beginning is an AMAZING album, its very near to perfect. The Black Eyed Peas have found their commercial niche. Expand

This is pretty weak. It's filled with average, mid grade songs. I only really liked Own It, Whenever, The Time (Dirty Bit) and XOXOXO. I gave them each a 7. Yeah, a 7 rating is the highest any song got from this album. The next in the list are tolerable, which means I gave them a 6. Love You Long Time, The Situation, Someday, Fashion Beats, Play It Loud, The Best One Yet and Don't Stop The Party. Don't bother listening to anything else on the album. Expand

This album will disappoint die-hard Black Eyed Peas fans. Far removed from their initial sound, this album is quickly becoming overly poppy and synthesized. That is not to say it doesn't include some great beats and tracks: Do It Like This and Don't Stop the Party are stand-out electronic dance songs that will please the lover of electro music. This album does include some great songs: in particular, Whenever, Everything is Wonderful, The Time, and The Best One Yet. However, there are some real shockers on this album as well- XOXO and Love you Long Time. The worst BEP album yet, unfortunately, and only worth the buy if not just to see what the fuss is about. I thought this album was alright it didnt have much meaning to it like the last album they brought out (The E.N.D.) and its a big downer that they werent able to make great songs like in the last album.
they really changed from hip hop to a bit of techno for a change ,i really liked the song "Someday" it has some meaning to me.
This album wasnt very good to be honest i wish they went mor

The tracks are catchy, but that doesn't mean they're good. Now that the BEP have jumped on the auto-tune bandwagon, it looks like their music's not going to get any better.

Well, it's not the best Black Eyed Peas album yet. But with it's incredible auto-tuning vocals and thumping beats coming through your eardrums, "The Beginning" was one of my favorite and steady albums of 2010. I definitely love "Time of My Life (Dirty Bit)" and "Just Can't Get Enough." I saw the video and it was so emotional and amazing on making the video sending a positive message to help save the innocent victims from the events of the horrific Earthquake in Japan last March. All of the songs were great. The one song I have to buy on Itunes right now was their 3rd single, "Don't Stop the Party."
Turning up a mixture of the gay community, this is the album I have to get. Great album, not that great since 2009's "The E.N.D." Just a phenomenal dance mix.

The Beginning came second. The E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies) was first both chronologically and in quality. The Black Eyed Peas are a band that has delivered many best-sellers in the last decade. In this album, the band plays around with different effects and styles; some for the better and others for the worse. The quality of the music varies from the lets listen again to turn it off right now range. The E.N.D. was full of best-sellers.

It would've been better if the Peas (will.i.am specifically), had been more original and be rebellious to the mainstream. Also, had Taboo and Apl been on vacation for the 95% of the time they were making this album? They Peas definitely risked going to a new style of sound using auto-tune and 8-bit sound, and they failed... 'The Beginning' wasn't put together cleverly. Thankfully, it's catchy enough for me. Simply awful. "Just Can't Get Enough", "The Situation" or "Don't Stop The Party" are sufferably and not bad. But the rest is horrible! Simply put, this album suffers from Beyonce syndrome--it does nothing to further the group's catalogue. Last time around, the Black Eyed Peas were exploring new territory, and the results were contagious. Now, it seems as though the group, particularly will.i.am, is stuck on auto-pilot.
