Similar to American Idiot, and just as good. In other words, it's an astonishingly accomplished mainstream pop hard rock album, one that is less mainstream and more original than other mainstream punk albums, even their own, but still undeniably of the mainstream. But hey, mainstream can be done well, and this coming from a die-hard indie fan who usually listens to Neko and Bejar and Of Montreal. Black Parade really changed my perceptions of MCR for the better, just as American Idiot did for me with Green Day. Expand

I am 46 years old and bought this CD based on a New York Times article. I'm not panting over Gerard Way's looksand I have no dog in the emo-indie-etc. fight, in other words. This CD blew me away completely with its theatricality, musicality and poignancy. Yes, some reminders of Green Day, Queen and Bowie, but in a good way. Catchy, humorous and raucous--who could ask for anything more?

This is not only the best album of My Chemical Romance, but a true masterpiece of the whole rock scene. Prejudice isn't the most accurate way to rate an album, and this happens here. It's not the fact that MCR is an emo band or not, actually Gerard Way said that emo is shit. I think it is a before and an after "The Black Parade". You may dislike it, but it's sure this album won't be forgotten for many years, instead of that, it surely be one of the albums more representative of de decade. Expand

Dude this CD ROCKS!!!! I don't understand how some of you could rate it so low!!! The songs are brilliant, the lyrics are awesome, AND GERARD WAYS VOICE DOES NOT SUCK TO THAT PERSON WHO SAID IT DID!!!! THis band has awesome talent and I can see them going far in their musical carrier.

Not their best album...but their other albums didn't have gems such as the hidden track and "Mama" on it.

Shit production for something made in 2006, whining, shit voice, shit guitar work, shit song structures and wont stand the test of time, ever to people who think their die hard MCR fans today, 10 years time no one will ever remember it unlike metallicas, megadeths and slayers first albums.

MCR have somehow evolved past another "me too" emo rock band and into something worthy of listening to. I was so shocked when I first heard this album in my friends car and was told it was MCR. The next day I purchased the album to discover one of the year's best. Even if you previously despised them, you might be surprised by just how much they've grown. Their song writing and music playing is so much better than before..it's an unbelievable evolution. Best tracks: "Dead!", "This Is How I Disappear", "Welcome To The Black Parade", "Mama", "Teenagers", "House of Wolves", "The Sharpest Lives" and "Cancer". Definitely worth at the least a listen. First, understand that before this release, I was not an MCR fan - I heard their stuff, and though it didn't offend me, I had no real desire to listen to it again. Black Parade is a different story, blending Green Day, News of the World era Queen, Pink Floyd's The Wall, and sure, even some 80s hair metal. It is bombastic and prententious, but it plays off this, and shows flashes of humor amidst its bizarre dream-like song cycle of loss (real or imagined), that still somehow leaves you with a good feeling at the end. It is an "old style" concept album, but It's hard to say whether the intention was homage or revival. Either way, Black Parade is something a little less ordinary for 2006. Expand

Amazing. Simply amazing. This album is an example of rock at its best. Each track is diverse, from a flowing "I Don't Love You" to a F.U., fun "Teenagers" to an almost 'old Italian' sounding "Mama." How can you not become addicted to atleast one of these songs?

MCR SUCKS!!!! That I agree with fullheartedly but I still think that a lot of you wise ass Gen Xers are being unfair to this band and especially to Gerard Way. He is a confused, marginally talented but highly intelligent and passionate young man and he needs constructive criticism rather than abuse. Some of the lyrics on this record are beautiful, even heart wrenching. But the vocals are wretched, whiny, and unoriginal around 90% of the time. And the songs are too poorly organized and hastily thrown together. This is the most pathetic attempt at a concept album since Ben Folds tried to create one but I hate to be coldly judgmental of someone who writes what at rare moments is some truly good poetry. But yes, he's a douche. Expand

This here is an album whose initial plan was forgotten among the ideas that eventually came forward; recorded as if its conception was only there to stop writers block. It also provides the basis for one of the best turnarounds in recent years. Calling this album punk is not what it should be stated as. Sure there are some punk attributes poking through. But what really shows is a want for the pop/rock revitalization of the seventies. The riffs, while occasionally repetitive, sometimes glow with power for such songs as Expand

The Black Parade is so refreshing. Almost every track sounds like another band's single. This concept album is about a young boy dying in a hospital. Sounds pretty depressing, I know. But it's so fun to listen too. It all sounds fresh and original. They have definitely matured as a band with this album. The opening "The End" gets you going until "Dead", the second track on the album comes on and then your attention is fully grasped on this wonderful album. All In All, The Black Parade is a great rock album and it came out around a time when there were no good rock albums out. A- Expand

This album is truley outstanding. A concept album that most people can relate to at some point. With track like 'Cancer' and 'Welcome to the Black Parade' that make the hairs on the back of your next stand up, this album is a trip of emotion, not just of sadness and pride but at times of letting go and simply going crazy. This album prooves that MCR are not an Emo band, but a rock band..nothing more nothing less. This album is fantastic. Expand

I usually don't like writing these, but I feel the need with this album. It is so underrated and written off as a lot less than it actually is. It may not be revolutionary or filled with brand new ideas, but the songs range from the enjoyable ("Mama," Teenagers"), to the good ("This is How I Disappear," :I Don't Love you") to the excellent ("Welcome to the Black Parade". "Disenchanted," "Sleep," "Famous Last Words") It's an excellent album with only a couple weaknesses. Definitely worth your attention. Expand

A monumentally ambitious album. Tossing the scream-and-rage-based sound of their previous albums 'I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love' and 'Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge', My Chem fuses the conceptual imagery of 'Sgt. Pepper' with the arena-rock sensibilities of Queen to create a sound that is both dark and cheerful. A non-linear, well-balanced rock opera of high concept, and high payoff. Excellent instrumentals, good vocals, and well-placed lyrics. This is to My Chemical Romance what 'American Idiot' was to Green Day.

Best tracks: "The Sharpest Lives", "Mama", "Teenagers"

In this journey of death my chemical romance comes off stronger than they did in three cheers or I brought you my bullets you brought me your love. Very tough to follow up what is easily their best album in "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge" but MCR did a rather good job with The Black Parade. It was a pretty solid album that drives the band in a new direction that works out really well for them.

is very good album in the album narration the situation the live everytime and everydays is very good album, half is a gothic album with a touch of tragedy and death always room where stories are told and disappointments is a creative album with a sound very 70's and 80's with some 90's sometimes a bit of hendrix or ozzy style eg there is a song that seemed to me much in the style of crazy train. album is dirty and full of sound and music Expand

A definite guilty pleasure of mine. This was MCR's "conceptual" album, and honestly, I thought it was brought out nicely. A nice blend of happiness and melancholy makes this a great album. Way to go.

This is My Chemical Romance's best album in my opinion. It starts off with the intro The End. which is pretty cool: 9/10. The End. leads straight into Dead! which is my second favourite song by My Chemical Romance, so it starts with this super ergetic solo, and... just... Too awesome to explain it: 10/10. The 3rd track off The Black Parade is This Is How I Disappear. I guess it's quite good: 7/10. Next there's The Sharpest Lives which is slightly better than the previous song on the album: 7.5/10. Track 5 is the best song ever recorded in my opinion. It's Welcome To The Black Parade and is the best: 10/10. Track 6 is I Don't Love You which I understand as a ballad: 8/10. House Of Wolves is Track 7. It's a really energetic, and loud track: 9/10. Track 8 is called Cancer. I guess that's another ballad on the album, this time starting on a piano, then the guitar comes in, and stuff... 8/10. Mama is track 9. It's... A really weird song... But I like it. I think you would too if you'd listen to it a couple of times: 8.7/10. Next there's Sleep which is quite a good track: 9/10. Track 11 is the energetic Teenagers: 8.8/10. The next track is Disenchanted which i'd say is quite a good, quiet track. The last (kind of :D) track is Famous Last Words which is another really amazing song: 10/10. Then there's the funny hidden track Blood: 7/10. I think it's a great album worth getting. Expand

Great follow up to 2004's Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge and the band are as good as ever, producing a fantastic album full of great songs with catchy lyrics and is one of few albums where I love every song.

My Chemical Romance have truly found their way to fame and the big time with The Black Parade, which is a showcase of both their musical abilities and their storytelling abilities, both through the lyrics and the emotion. This is the kind of album that comes around one in a band's lifespan and brings wonderful songs such as Dead!, Welcome to the Black Parade, Teenagers and Famous Last Words, which single handedly took the world by storm in 2006 and 2007. One of the characteristics of MCR is that in every job evolving their sound and theme and this work definitely proves that this band has great power in the music.
First of all, clarify that this work, for me, does not exceed the greatness of the previous album 'Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge' because I feel more emotional and melodic, but The Black Parade is a unique blend of styles and q
uality, containing topics literally for everyone. Surely listening after listening, you will be able to go all tastes squeezing this cd from a group that has been getting a major impact far and wide across the planet and surely still have much to offer job after job. Do not miss out. Expand

A good old fashioned prog-rock opera that serves as a tribute to classic rock of the 1970s (namely Queen, which is the biggest influence on the record). Death is the big (and only) theme on the album that follows the journey of The Patient after his death from cancer and seeing death in the from of a favourite memory (the titular parade as a child). Its a wonderfully ludicrous story told brilliant with some great instrumentation inspired by Billy Corgan and Freddie Mercury. This could be the greatest "emo" album of the century. Expand

This is the most outstanding album I own and that I have ever heard. This is MCR's finest effort. Every single song on this album is incredible, deep, thoughtful, masterful and magical. This is the album against which I compare all others. If I was stuck on a desert island and could only have one CD, The Black Parade would be my choice.
