Big? Nope. Clever? Definitely. [Mar 2013, p.98]

They have returned to (non-mariachi) form and then some.

With power chord hooks and a newfound innocence, this is a side of The Bronx you’ve yet to hear.

The Bronx IV is enough evidence that these guys show no signs of easing off the aggression accelerator any time soon.

Usually, by the fourth album, bands of the non-willfully-experimental type have grown comfortable with their sound. Yet, the Bronx of IV is not a complacent one, shaking out the cobwebs of inactivity as opposed to settling into a groove.

It all adds up to The Bronx's most accomplished record. [26 Jan 2013, p.54]

IV is a worthy return that shows the Bronx still have those chops.

The Bronx (IV) [is] their most infectious record to date. [Mar 2013, p.88]

Now the group has shed the charro suits and returned to its original sound with 12 serrated hard-core jams about wasted youth and suicide.

The Bronx has turned rage and desperation into a perpetual state of being--and (IV) into a monument not just of survival, but also evolution.

    IV is a wondrous beast.

Songs as bold, honest and passionate as these shouldn’t have any trouble fitting in.
  13. None of the band’s bolshy character is lost on Bronx IV, but they do find new places to go.

Matt Caughthran's vocals have never been stronger, more melodic or capable of holding centre stage. Yet coupled with the slicker sheen to the LP (self-made in their new home studio) it has pushed some of their material into territories traditionally inhabited by the totally underwhelming.
  15. It all adds up to a solid release that is suited better for the radio than it is among your hardcore collection.

This classic hard rock production touches every song on IV, and the first half of the record is composed of songs that seem tailored to fit the post-metal sensibilities of the record's sonic texturing.
