For a band that has evolved from screamo to such thoughtful artistry, The Canyon is a stunning offering.

With no warning whatsoever, this is an incredibly thoughtful, articulate modern rock record that stands toe-to-toe with anything released this year.

An album which simply allows itself to be washed over, and take it all in. To simply be. In a time when even being must hurt like hell, that's one hell of a gift to give to the world.

The 79-minute runtime will undoubtedly turn some casual listeners off, but those patient enough to stick it out until the end are in for the Used’s most soul-wrenching, creatively daring effort to date.

The Canyon showcases a consistent and powerful synergy between strong songwriting, potent subject matter, and eclectic musicianship that proves The Used continue to grow as people and as a band 15 years into their career. [28 Oct 2017, p.50]

The post-hardcore foundations are here, complete with drama-fuelled, singalong choruses, but what The Used have built upon them opens up a new world of creative opportunities for them.

Someone would think that album of so many songs cannot be as good but the true is that this album is. Every song has the own place in The Canyon and really fits in it. Lyrics are wonderful and full of emotions. Production is sophisticated. As a result, The Canyon is a fresh, modern alternative rock album and it is the biggest surprise of this year. Maybe even better than Brand´s New Science Fiction.

Best songs: Broken Windows, Vertigo Cave, Upper Falls, Over and Over Again
