There's a fresh, East-meets-West ingenuity on culture-clash cuts such as Wrestling Israel, amid the straight-up, old-fashioned fury on the title track, and closers #OccupyEarth and Stop the Apocalypse. [8 Sep 2012, p.53]

The Circle in the Square builds on the Flobots' catalogue.
  3. Musically, The Circle in the Square is a bit too wobbly to stand up even amongst the rock acts channeling hip-hop a little less obviously.

"Gonna Be Free" is a solid tune, but not strong enough to save Circle from mediocrity. [Aug 2012, p.88]

The circle and the square is a diverse album that really is good. I could listen to all of the songs, and enjoy them, without skipping over any which is very rare for me. The powerful lyrics really hit home and the melodies are great. Expand
