Ozzella and Kerns match and meld more effectively than previous efforts.

She’s taking her own advice on The Distance Is So Big and Lemuria is a better band for it.

It’s a solid album where both songcraft and the estimable loud-quiet-loud dynamic can share the spotlight.

Three albums in and Lemuria are starting to explore past the point where their heroes left off, and while it's not quite uncharted territory, it's certainly moving in the right direction.

The resulting shift in sound not only suits Lemuria, it sets them apart from the indie pack. [15 Jun 2013, p.54]

The Distance Is So Big isn't as immediately accessible as previous Lemuria records, but overall, it has far more depth. [Jul 2013, p.100]

Sweet and thoughtful but not without edge, Lemuria knowingly toys with us on The Distance Is So Big, reveling in the loops of the lyrics and the strength of their unique saccharine force.

An album on par with its predecessor but at times, exceeding it. It has everything people love about the band in abundance.

More than anything though this is a record which feels warmed by summer sun, reminiscent of misty sunsets to blistering mid-mornings it listens like an album made by a band from California rather than New York.

Stylistically, while it can all fit in to the category of Indie/Alt. Rock if it had to, every song brings something different to the table.
