  1. Though not every track is a gem, The Dutchess reaches further than most albums by contemporary divas.
  2. 80
This is one of the most rambunctiously entertaining and high-spirited records of 2006. [Dec 2006, p.108]
  3. An eclectic, danceable collection of hip-hop, R&B, and pop confections.
  4. Where the likes of [Gwen] Stefani and co manage to tie eclectic albums together with the strength of their personality, Fergie never actually comes close to showing what she really sounds like, leaving "The Dutchess" as an exceptionally random R&B mixtape.
  5. A shameless solo debut full of Eighties-style electro bangers.
  6. Fergie is talented enough to compete with the likes of Gwen Stefani and Christina Aguilera, but the material on The Dutchess won't take her to those heights.
  7. Basically, if London Bridge doesn't make you want to rip your ears off, you'll enjoy almost 80 per cent of the album.
  8. Exactly as gratingly infectious as you might expect.

She keeps the tone light and playful, but her shopaholic-hottie raps seem written for someone with less emotional baggage. [Nov 2006, p.145]
  10. The album too often seems to be striving to display diversity at the expense of artistry.
  11. 50
When [Fergie] nails it--as she does about half the time on her genre-jumbling solo debut--the result is strange pop that successfully blurs the thin line between annoying and alluring. [Nov 2006, p.160]
  12. The problem is the Duchess herself. Fergie exudes earthy charm, but can't keep up with the breakneck music. She forces emotion on the slower show-stoppers, and she's all cartoon kitten on the come-ons. [17 Sep 2006]
  13. Mildly entertaining but tremendously taxing.
  14. It's essentially a Black Eyed Peas album with two fewer rappers. That's an improvement: two down, two to go. [18 Sep 2006]
  15. Fergie prances, preens, moans, talks and raps, but the result is canned and sterile.

  1. Fergie's Debut is fierce. When "London Bridge" came out I was so excited to hear Fergie on her own. The album has some fabulous songs but some songs lack the Fergie we Are used to. Key Tracks: "London BRidge" Glamorous" "All That I Got" Full Review »

This album definitely has its fair share of great songs; to name but a few, Mary Jane Shoes, Clumsy and Glamorous, along with the Rock-Chick sound of Wake Up. Her huge singing talent and amazingly versatile look show her to be a true Madonna; just in the booklet we are shown around 6 (from memory) different styles of Fergie. She pulls this album off with its many different genres, without seeming too much like a "Wannabe". Well worth a listen; especially if you're a Black Eyed Peas fan. 7/10. Why? Lets just say, Hip-Hop isn't my most favoured genre. And where this album has a huge range of genres, the more repetitive and modern mainstream songs seem to fall short of Fergie's true talent. PLEASE Fergie, take up rock full time? Full Review »

Altought this album is not perfect, it has really great and catchy songs on it. There is only 4 tracks that are not really good. But all the rest is great and well-produced. For a first solo album, it's really cool. Full Review »
