It feels weird to listen to the album. Her voice, the songwriting, and the melodies make it very hard to listen to this album. Although it has some good songs, like "shampain", "hollywood" and "oh no"; the rest of the songs are not bad, but they're not something I would like to listen to again.

It's impressive how much she does with so little in the production part. I would take it as a demonstration of potential and personality.

Marina's youth shines through the album. Her vocal prowess and her creativity in each song shows she belongs up there with other great female artists.

My favorite album of all times. There is no other album that i relate to this well and describes me this well. The pop rock-y and weird instrumentals sound amazing with Marina's great voice. The lyrics are the most meaningful. The style of this album is so dark and unapologetic. An album that talks about family issues, self hate, loneliness, social anxiety and eating disorders.

This is such a classical album! The Family Jewels is a good start to Marina, and a very cohesive and well produced album. The lyrical content is amazing in all the songs, with really meaningful and critical lyrics. "Are You Satisfied?", "Obsessions", "Hollywood", and "Oh No!" are my favourites.

"The Family Jewels" foi uma estreia muito boa para a cantora e compositora britânica. As músicas apresentam sonoridades agradáveis ao ouvido e as suas letras possuem qualidade. Destaques para "I Am Not A Robot", "Hollywood" e "The Outsider".

from dazzling Kate Bush-esque art pop (I Am Not a Robot, Mowgli's Road, Numb) to bouncy and fun (not to mention relatable) new wave/synthpop (The Outsider, Shampain, Oh No!), the orchestration and production is superlative
top tracks: I Am Not a Robot, Are You Satisfied?, Shampain, Hermit the Frog, Mowgli's Road and the splendid and profound (bonus) title track

I'm not gonna lie, Marina is my favorite artist. She is really was born for music, for doing the art. In this debut album, any teenager will find himself. Every song is impregnated with truth, sincerity, and genuine. 'Coz Marina go through this actual teenage SH*T only by herself.
Really appreciate this album. It gives me the notion that the black band is not eternal and one day in front

Marina's debut album is quirky and catchy and quite honestly one of the best debut albums of all time. While many critics have deemed her singing on this album annoying, I consider the singing on the album wonderful and unique. The lyrics are sharp and the songs are all beautifully individualistic, making the whole album an addictively enthralling experience from beginning to end.

Oh No!

I feel that this remains to be Marina's weakest work, though others will argue that it is her strongest. Some of the album proves to be divine, with some tracks such as "Shampain" and "Guilty" proving to be highlights, while others such as "I Am Not A Robot" and "Hermit The Frog" leave much to be desired.

  1. ["Hermit the Frog" is] a rare moment of fun, though; mostly Ms. Diamandis doesn’t let herself get comfortable. She’s strongest on the songs that nod, obliquely or otherwise, to fame.
  2. The Family Jewels is a record that is creatively ubiquitous and aggressive, traits that make this album not unlike Amy Winehouse's Back to Black or maybe even Liz Phair's Exile in Guyville.
  3. On her debut album, The Family Jewels, Diamandis backs up her bark with a promising bite.
